My motherland is at an ongoing war with the most corrupted government on the surface of the Earth- the military junta government. From Feb 1, 2021, the military junta forced their way to the ruling of the country. Since then, Myanmar (Burma) experience turmoil and destruction inflicted by the junta government upon its people.
Whoever stands against the
military government is deemed as disobedient, and therefore, are arrested,
tortured, and killed. The military government performs unprecedented crackdowns
and repressions on its people, almost daily. Young women died. Young men died.
Young children died. Thousands of lives have been taken away. Grieving parents
couldn't even bid a proper farewell to their beloved children. As a nation, we
led a life of suffering from the cradle to the grave due to a self-serving
government.
The whole country does not
recognise nor accept the military government as a legitimate government. The
Junta military government consists of a group of self-centred people who only
serve themselves. It is now, therefore, the people against the government, the
fight between people and government. As a typical corrupted government, the
military junta is picking its 'strategic fight' with smaller ethnicities such
as Chin State (my motherland), Kachin State, Kayin State, and Mon State. They
think that these smaller ethnicities will soon give up, and therefore,
concentrate their military power towards smaller ethnicities.
According to numerous local
reports, at least 136 large military trucks and a couple of armoured tanks are
now in the Chin State. It is now clear that the military government is engaging
in a serious battle with the people. There have been numerous shootings across
Chin State in the last 24 hours. Churches are burnt down to ashes. Houses are
burnt down to ashes. Due to the severity of the escalating situation, residents
fled to the jungle. Some are captured before they could run away. It was
reported that even a 13-year-old boy was captured. What did we do so wrong to
deserve these kinds of behaviours from a government that supposes to look after
us? Power is such a thing of fragility; it can be abused severely by wrong
hands.
With hindsight, it is obvious
that the military junta government is trying to instil distress and fear so
that people give up. In their eyes, we are easy to bully and mistreated due to
our identity and its tie with the term 'minor ethnicities'. However, we stand
together as a nation, we join hands together with other smaller ethnicities, we
join hands with the whole population of Myanmar, except with individuals or
groups who belong to the military junta government. With great determination,
my people in the Chinland will steadfast against the atrocities of the military
junta. We want a better yesterday, a better today, a better tomorrow, and a
better future. The idea of 'fighting even with sticks and stones' is now
ingrained in the heart of my people. It is not a war we created nor picked. It is
a war we're forced to face.
I learned from history that we
used to fight for our freedom and did whatever it takes to protect fellow
citizens. I learned from history that war was a part of our journey. I learned
from history that war was inevitable, and we had to make a stand. I learned
from history that we fought for our land and heritage. I learned from history
that we had an amazing culture and tradition. Also, I learned from history that
it was only after we're being indoctrinated with Christianity, we've become
soft and completely resorted to non-violence behaviours. Now, things have
changed once again as we once more must embrace the idea of standing up for our
country and its liberty.
As a nation, we may be small and
insufficient in numbers but that will not stop us from standing against a
dictatorship government that doesn't know human values. While people in power
fed themselves with the hard works of the people, they want the people to do
more.
Myanmar as a country is quite
poor in comparison to other countries. Chin State is the poorest state in the
country. Never have I ever heard about government regulation and policy about
the promotion of the health and well-being of the people in Chin State. People
in the government are all well off no matter how short or long they're in the
service. As soon as they're in the government, they have access to the 'card of
corruption' by violating and abusing their powers. Of course, they don't seem
to want to let go of their power - a key to their wealth, authority, and
corruption. We will fight to get back what has been taken away from us: the
freedom to live in peace, the freedom to liberate, the freedom to choose, the
freedom to express, and the freedom to change.
To my fellow people, who stand
for the country and the people may victory be with you. You are the true hero
who knows what to give for your country. May the country you stand for bless
you abundantly.
To the international fellow human
beings, I want you to know that Myanmar as a country has the longest civil war
in modern history, which is still ongoing current to this date. In almost 70
years of ongoing civil war in the country, now is the time when things are
getting worse, and we're expecting it to get worse in the coming days. A
military junta government is made of around a million people, and they wish to
see themselves representing the 55 million people. Not because the people
choose but because they forced their way into the government. We're fighting a
dictatorship and an authoritarian. We're fighting a government that doesn't
respect human values. We're fighting a group of people (illegitimate
government) who put their interests before the public interest. We're fighting
to take back our country from the hands of illegitimate government. We're
fighting to get our land back. To get our freedom back.
