Adjective | Sifianh

WHAT IS AN ADJECTIVE?"
Sifianh cu zeidah a si?

Simply put adjectives are descriptive words. Adjectives are used to describe or give information about things, ideas and people: nouns or pronouns.
-A fawinak in chim ahcun sifianh timi cu chimrel fianhnak biafang hna an si ko. Sifianh cu thil, ruahnak, le minung: auhmin an silole min can pawl kong chimnak le fianhternak caah hman an si.

(The adjective grey describes the noun "dog".)

The most common question an adjective might answer is "What kind of ...?"
àSifianh nih a leh zungzal hnga awk ding biahalnak cu, "Zeibantuk phun/Zeibantuk hi dah...?" tihi a si.

The good news is that in English the form of an adjective does not change, once you have learnt it that's it and it does not matter if the noun being described is male or female, singular or plural, subject or object. Yay!
-Thilttha pakhat simi cu Mirangca ahhin sifianh ttialning hi aa thleng bal lo, cucaah na thiam cang hnu ahcun thiam bak a si ko. Auhmin he pehtaih in nu le pa kong na chim ah siseh, a tlawm tam kong ah siseh, thil le ri kong ah siseh na buai ti lai lo.

Some adjectives give us factual information about the noun - age, size colour etc (fact adjectives - can't be argued with).
àCheukhat sifianh nih cun auhmin kongkau dik tein a kan chimh tawn - kum, hmetngan, muici tbk kong hna cu atak in le dikthlir ngai in a kan chimh tawn. (Atak sifianh - al awk ttha lomi. tc. Mirang taksa cu a rang/ngo.)

Some adjectives show what somebody thinks about something or somebody - nice, horrid, beautiful etc (opinion adjectives - not everyone may agree).
àCheukhat sifianh nih cun mi zeimaw nih mi pakhat khat kong a ruahnak zong kha a chim tawn -- a ttha, a chia, aa dawh maw tbk (ruahnak sifianh -- zapi nih lungtlin dih hnga lem lomi)

If you are asked questions with which, whose, what kind, or how many, you need an adjective to be able to answer.
àZei he, zei phun, silole zeizat tbk biafang in bia na hal na si tikah sifianh hmang in bialehnak na tuah khawh a hau.

Example: How many siblings do you have?
Bianabia: Unau pa zeizat na ngeih?
Answer: I have five siblings.
Bialeh: Unau panga ka ngei.
